Bit & Drill Drawer Unit

This is a simple 3D-printed drawer unit I made for storing hex-shank drill bits and screwdriver bits. It is screwed to one of the shallow shelves on my tool wall.

The bottom drawer stores screwdriver bits and has a paper label glued in place to show which bit is which.

The middle drawer stores some drill bits. There wasn't space in this drawer for a label, but it's easy enough to either count from one end or the other (the drill bits go from 3 mm to 10 mm in 1 mm increments) or just pick up a drill bit and read the stamped size on the shank.

The top drawer is a "rummage" drawer with no fixed places for anything. The stuff in this drawer gets used much less frequently, so it's no big deal to have to rummage.

This photo shows the slightly unusual feature of the drawer unit. The drawers are captive but can tilt down at an angle when they're open. The reason for that is hopefully made clear in the next photo:

Above the drawer unit are a set of screwdrivers mounted with their shafts in the shelf. If the drawers didn't tilt down, it would be difficult to access the drawer contents as the screwdriver handles would get in the way.
