Boxes
This area of the site includes some boxes that I've made. I really enjoy making simple wooden boxes. They are relatively quick to make, even when working only with hand tools. However, there are still a huge number of variations of design that are possible and it's relatively easy (and cheap) to include exotic and interestingly patterned timber as the quantities required are relatively small.
There are links below to some pages with more information about some of the boxes I've made.
Projects:
- First Ever Box: my first attempt at a box.
- A Box for Hand Warmers: my second box - for storing hand warmers.
- Weighted Base Box: my third box - a box with a heavy base.
- Kumiko Box: a box with Kumiko in the lid.
- Dovetailed Boxes: several dovetailed boxes.
- First Tea Caddy: a box with a hinged lid and carved lettering.
- Sliding Lid Box: a simple alder box.
- Minimal Tool Challenge: an interesting little challenge to see how few hand tools I could use to make a box.
- Another Weighted Base Box: a taller version of my weighted base box.
- Japanese Style Pencil Case: a pencil case in the style of a Japanese toolbox.
- More Tea Caddies: some more tea caddies with various words carved into the top.
- Two Boxes with Drawers: a couple of boxes with integral drawers.
- Miscellaneous Boxes: other boxes that didn't get their own dedicated project page.
