# Gear Calculator / Generator

I wrote this calculator after getting frustrated with the number of calculators on the web that focus on antiquated diametral pitch based gears rather than modern module gears. To use the calculator, enter the module and number of teeth and the rest of the table should automatically update. The image below the table gives an indication of what the gear might look like. If you put out-of-range values into any of the fields, it'll probably look wrong! To use a gear in your chosen CAD system, you can download a DXF (or SVG). Note that the DXF approximates the involute gear form with a polyline - if you think you can help me get this to use a spline instead, please do get in touch. Most of the parameters are shown in the image on the left; you can click (or middle-click) on the image to see a bigger (and more readable) version of it.
