Mini Moravian Bench

This is my "Mini-Moravian" work bench, which has been designed specifically to work with my travel tool chest. After removing the wedges in the end and dismantling the tapered dovetail housing joints attaching the top, it can be dismantled into these pieces:

They can then be transported in the car along with the tool chest to provide me with a nice set-up for making small boxes and similar woodwork projects while I'm on holiday.

This photo shows the set-up with the tool chest on top (and shows off how wonky the ground is outside my garage - I take some spacers with me when I travel in case I find myself working on an uneven surface, although this is a bit extreme). On flat ground, the top surface of the tool chest is 1 metre off the ground, which matches the height of the bench in my garage workshop and suits my height (1.98 metres / 6'6").

There are some 3D-printed rails on each end that give somewhere to conveniently hold clamps. There are also some 3D-printed attachments on the stretchers which support three of the drawers from the chest for convenient access:

The following photo shows a detail of the leg joinery - wedged mortice and tenons for the permanent joins and a wedged tusked tenon for the removable one:

You can read all about how I made this bench (using a mixture of hand and power tools) on the build log.
