Simple Tungsten Holder

This is just a simple stand that I use for holding tungsten electrodes for TIG welding. It's made out of a piece of 28 mm diameter aluminium with a 25 mm hole most of the way through.

In the base is a 20 mm × 3 mm neodymium magnet held in place with Loctite 603. It can stand on a level part of the welding trolley or on the welding bench and make it easy to grab a new one when I've just dipped the last one in the weld pool!

I am a hobbyist metalworker and woodworker. I work as an electronic design engineer and spend most of my working days in front of a computer so I enjoy having the opportunity to use my hands and make things in my spare time. I particularly enjoy making tools as I can then use them on other projects. This website showcases some of the things I've made.
