First Tea Caddy

This is a simple tea caddy that I made as a gift. It's one of the simplest boxes I've made as it's all made from a single piece of American Black Walnut. The dovetails were cut by hand, using a 3D printed dovetail saw guide.

The hinge was made out of some 6 mm brass bar. Four very short pieces were turned, two with 3 mm holes drilled through and two with a 3 mm stub. The brass pieces were superglued into holes in the lid and the sides. Unfortunately, I didn't get any photos of this part of the design.

The finish is mineral oil to minimise the risk of any effect on the taste of the tea leaves.
