In the afternoon I gave the body a bit of a tidy up with card scrapers and, in places, sandpaper and then I gave the body and knob a coat of Mike's Magic Mix:

The handle took a bit more effort to tidy it up as I'd left it with a very rough finish and it still needed a bit more shape tweaking but this is how it ended up:

It has now also had a coat of the magic stuff:

I might tweak the shape a bit more once the handle has been fitted to the plane (which will mean more coats of oil in that area) but for now I'll just apply a few more coats and then see how it looks.

I am a hobbyist metalworker and woodworker. I work as an electronic design engineer and spend most of my working days in front of a computer so I enjoy having the opportunity to use my hands and make things in my spare time.
