Simple Marking Knife
This is a simple marking knife that I made as a test of my home-made heat treatment oven. The blade is made from a piece of 3 mm × 10 mm gauge plate, which was hacksawed and filed to shape, had some holes drilled using the pillar drill and was then heat treated using the heat treatment oven. It then had a lot of attention with wet & dry and sharpening stones to clean up the blade and finally some off-cuts of wenge and brass were used for the scales (which are held in place with epoxy).
It's a small enough blade that it would have been quite easy to do the heat treatment with a blow torch, but it was nice to have an excuse to try the heat treatment oven on something real rather than just a random bit of steel.
