Sycamore Drawer Box

This box is made mostly from Sycamore (for the carcase, the drawer bottoms and the drawer knobs) with American Black Walnut for the drawer fronts and Sweet Chestnut for the drawer sides and back as well as the carcase back.

I made the carcase while on holiday in France, using my travel tool chest and mini-moravian bench. I didn't have any material of the right size for the drawer sides and backs while I was away, so I made the drawers when I got back home.

The photo above shows a straight-on view, showing the scalloped area around the drawer pull.

This photo shows a close-up of the top-left corner, with that dramatic Sycamore grain seeming to flow over the edge of the box:

Sycamore (Acer Pseudoplantanus) has become one of my favourite woods following the completion of the Mini-Moravian bench and this box. It is lovely to work with and has some beautiful figure.

You can read all the details of how I made this box in the build log.
