Bandsaw Restoration: The Motor

These photos show the motor after it had been assembled. Photos of it in bits and unpainted are shown on various other pages in this section so I haven't reproduced them here.

Like the earth point on the main casting, the earth point on the motor needed the paint removing. This was done in the same way: with a small counterbore held in the hand and carefully rotated to scrape away the paint in the right place.

This photo shows the rotor of the motor while it was removed from the motor. Prior to disassembly, the bandsaw had been very noisy and one of the areas that I suspected could be a cause of this were the bearings in the motor. Therefore, while the motor was in pieces, I took the bearings off and fitted new ones. The motor is a lot quieter now!
